Welcome to my blog!

My professional goal for 2010 and maybe the decade is a challenge for me personally: continue writing. Since I received my doctorate in 12/2008, I have been acutely aware of the responsibility for scholarly writing. From then until now, I had procrastinated - life kept getting in the way. During that time I had been part of 2 fellowships: UCITE (University Center for Innovation in Teaching & Education) & Freedman at CWRU. Both had been instrumental in giving me tools and motivation. UCITE hosts weekly campus seminars on relevant education topics. The writing seminars were particularly helpful and director Mano Singham's article http://www.case.edu/provost/UCITE/singham/sevenwriter.pdf , "Seven Suggestions for Becoming a More Productive Writer" has been invaluable. His number one suggestion is to write every day, if even just a little bit. That makes so much sense to me who because all I recently did was to reschedule writing tine and it never got done.

The purpose of this blog is to help me with that goal and to write regularly. It is my intention to regularly address issues important to my nursing practice. Over the break, my goal was to finish an article that had been hanging around since the summer. It got done and it feels so good. There are 3 others waiting in the wings to be started or get done. I need to get going and capitalize on this current momentum. Wish me luck!
